Dr. Laura's Bio

Options Naturopathic Clinic is pleased to introduce Dr. Laura Cahill Sleggs. Dr. Laura began practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor in 2007 in New York and is excited to return to Ohio, where she grew up.

Dr. Laura first became interested in natural medicine several years ago when she was unwell and sought clinical advice from Dr. Erin.  She was introduced to naturopathic medicine and treated by Dr. Erin in 2001 after meeting her to discuss her interest in enrolling in naturopathic medical school. She remembers Dr. Erin looking at her and saying, “Are you ready for this experience?  This is a big thing!”  At the time she had no idea how big of a “thing” her journey of healing and becoming a naturopath would be, but it has been one of the most fulfilling and exciting parts of her life. She looks forward to using her personal experience in her work at Options.

Naturally, Dr. Laura shares the philosophy of Options Naturopathic Clinic since Dr. Erin was her first mentor and since she also studied with some of Dr. Erin’s same teachers, such as Dr. Gérard Guéniot and Dr. Mikhael Adams, while in naturopathic medical school in Toronto at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM).

Additionally Dr. Laura had the privilege of witnessing her brother and sister be successfully healed from autoimmune diseases by working with Dr. Erin.  All of these experiences have inspired Dr. Laura to use Biotherapeutic Drainage and some similar naturopathic modalities in her practice –where she also has seen excellent results in her patients.

Dr. Laura believes in the body’s ability to return itself to a state of natural health once a person adopts a healthy lifestyle supported by quality nutrients that encourage proper cell and body function. Dr. Laura uses applied kinesiology to supplement her naturopathic treatment.

Dr. Laura graduated from the CCNM in Toronto Ontario in 2007. She is also an Exercise Physiologist and emphasizes proper exercise in her treatment plans. She enjoys working with children and teens, and has a special interest in sensitive children, including those with ADHD and Autism.  She is a Autism Research Institute (formerly known as Defeat Autism Now, or DAN) practitioner.  Dr. Laura works with adults to address both chronic and acute conditions, using a variety of approaches drawn from her knowledge and use of nutritional supplements, botanical remedies, homeopathy, and targeted lifestyle changes.

Dr. Laura and her husband, Howard, are raising two healthy children, Ayla and Ben, following the principles of Naturopathic Medicine.

We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Laura Cahill Sleggs to the Options Naturopathic Clinic team.
