Will
my insurance cover naturopathic care?
Most insurance companies in Ohio do not cover naturopathic services
at this time. In order to find out if your insurance company will
pay for our services, call your insurance company and inquire about
verification of coverage. You may need to give your policy number
at the time of the call.
If your insurance company does cover naturopathic services, we can
give you the appropriate forms to submit at the time of your visit.
Most insurance companies will not cover the expense of herbal supplements,
vitamins or homeopathics.
Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending Accounts are some of
the ways in which families have chosen to make naturopathic medicine
affordable for them. These types of insurance policies cover catastrophic
events or severe illness by having a higher deductibles and thus
a lower premiums. They enable naturopathic care by allowing you
to write off the amount you spend on your healthcare. Most of Options’
services would be covered under such a plan. We are not able to
counsel you on the specifics of setting such a policy up, but suggest
you speak with both your employer and your tax accountant for the
exact policies available and for the accurate information for you
and your family.
What
can I expect at my first visit?
Most new patients are pleasantly surprised when they come in and
find such a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Typically there is very
little wait (rarely more then 20 minutes IF that!) and the patient
sees the doctor at the time scheduled. A comfortable discussion
takes place, where the patient gets a full opportunity to explain
their medical and personal history and the concerns at hand. Plenty
of time for questions is given and fair degree of explanation occurs
at this first visit. At the end of the visit, the patient has a
little more time with our office manager to determine what they
need to get started on their health plan. For more specifics on
the discussion with the physician, see Setting
Up an Appointment.
How
many visits will I need?
How many visits you will need depends on your individual diagnosis,
the severity of your case, and the chronic nature of your condition.
Acute conditions may only require one to two visits, whereas chronic
problems may take months or years to address. As the ultimate
goal from a naturopathic perspective is optimal health, care may
be ongoing as a plan for wellness and prevention. Therapeutic
goals and intentions vary from person to person and this can be
discussed with Dr. Holston or Dr. Sherman to meet your individual
wants and needs.
Will
I have to take these things for the rest of my life?
We find that most chronic health problems will not change substantially
without addressing the issues on multiple levels, including the
mental, emotional, physical and thus hereditary levels. To adequately
do so, a carefully selected plan of lifestyle changes, supplements
and homeopathics will be created for your specific life history
and path to wellness. Nothing will have to be taken for
life, in fact we pride ourselves on removing the need for some supposed
lifelong pharmaceutical medications. Yet, it is of course wise to
consider a maintenance plan once your chief complaints have been
successfully addressed. |
