John
Sherman ,
N.D.
Dr. Sherman has been practicing natural family medicine
for the last 28 years, and is excited now about natural healing
as when he first started in 1979. His experience ranges from natural
childbirth at home to integrated cancer care. He has served as
clinic director of Bastyr University Natural Health Clinic, the
naturopathic physician teaching clinic of Bastyr University. He
has also taught as an associate professor at both Bastyr University
and National College of Natural Medicine. Dr. Sherman has written
The
Complete Botanical Prescriber, a textbook of herbal medicine
for holistic practitioners, and also is a contributing author to
Alternative Medicine: The Definitive Guide.
Dr. Sherman
employs metabolic typing techniques in his practice, which often
uncover the root cause of many imbalances and disorders. By defining each patient's
biochemical constitution, he can see the best way of removing the obstacles to
healing, finding the ideal diet and nutrients for that person's recovery.
He also uses European drainage techniques to allow the body to actively eliminate
toxins that impede normal elimination and healing. His work in this realm will
follow the same methods familiar to many patients through our clinic's
other physicians.
Dr. Sherman currently lectures to naturopathic physicians
across the country on metabolic
balancing and is currently writing a book on the subject.
