“Stress is a communication problem with the Self” This quote above is one of my favorites from my mentor, Dr. Gérard Guéniot; it’s quite the statement to ponder. When I take it into the context of my work with individuals, balancing temperaments and aiding relationships with the external environments, it makes complete sense. Stress is not an entity outside of us, but is the result of how we react to external events. Our attitudes, our physical health, even our mineral stores all contribute to how we temper our responses to exciting phenomena. Stress is merely the result of poor communication, a sort of neurosis that we pit against our Selves. I capitalize the “S” of “Self” because I want to be clear that the word construes the inner Self, or the higher Self. This is that most fundamental part of us that determines most everything. How do we change our relationship to it? It helps to ponder how my own individual way of reacting determines how I manage “stress,” rather than throwing my hands up because I think the events of my life are so much more intense, trying or full of hardship than another’s life. So, if you have been repeatedly thinking or saying how “stressed” you are, take a step back, contemplate your relationship with your inner Self and focus on the ways in which you can speak more gently and act more kindly to yourself. It deserves pondering over and may be a good focus for an attempt at meditation. Try this exercise: You will likely find all kinds of thoughts arising. If you find you are following a thought off onto an unrelated tangent, just gently bring the mind back to this contemplation of how you talk to your Self. Be aware how you might even chastise your Self in your thoughts while meditating for thinking off the subject and experiment with reacting more kindly when bringing your awareness back to the subject of this communication. At the end of 15 minutes, write for at least 5-10 minutes any ideas, revelations or feelings that arose. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• If you read nothing else in this newsletter, I wanted you to read that! So this month, I decided to put it before everything else that I am also excited to share with you. As you may have noticed, it has been a few months since we sent our one of our “e-news.” Instead of a leisurely summer, I was up to my usual traveling madness starting in June, with seeing patients in Cleveland and the quick trip to Toronto to do the Color and Sound Therapy, then off to India in July and Albuquerque in August. My next trip to Cleveland will be from September 20-25th and I will be available to see patients on all of these business days. I look forward to seeing anyone who would like a lone visit with me or a joint visit with Dr. Liz. The calendar is already filling up for these four short days, so please call Fannie and schedule if you are interested. In the interest of getting you ALL the critical news, I’m abbreviating this e-news by attaching a longer article on why naturopathic medicine is your best insurance policy. I hope you will get a chance to read it and send me any comments at doctorerin@gmail.com.
I’ve been having a busy summer working away and happy to be getting a multitude of requests to speak at various functions, both private and public. Here is a list of the upcoming talks that are open to the public. A few require advance reservations and a small fee, but most are free and welcome to everyone. How to Create Your Own Natural

Many patients who either enjoyed the spring cleanse, or had to miss it at that time are urging a repeat of the special offer we’d like to make available biannually in Spring and Fall. But why is fall a good time to detoxify like the spring? Consider what is happening in nature: certain animals are storing food others while are continuing to bulk up in preparation for hibernation, tree leaves change color and eventually fall. These events are signs of preparation for winter. You can do a fall cleanse to prepare yourself for winter. A cleanse can help you center and ground yourself before the winter holidays. The release of toxins helps make your immune system stronger and less burdened before cold and flu season. Some other reasons for a seasonal deoxification include: • Ubiquitous, constant exposure to pollutants in our air, water and food. • Amassing of preservatives, drugs and the other synthetic chemicals found in our personal care products in bodily tissues. Hair products, make-up, and lotions are full of parabens, notoriously toxic to the liver function and now known to be carcinogenic. • Rejuvenation of liver function, especially in preparation for the richer foods we are inclined to eat during the cold winter. The liver is automatically flushing with the change in climate every spring and fall, hence a return of allergies, runny noses and other seasonal illnesses. We like to use the benefits of nature's pre-existing flush by supplementing it with a clear detox program. Description: Cost:
