Cancer and Heart Disease

CANCER & HEART DISEASE: WHAT DO THESE TWO CONDITIONS HAVE IN COMMON?

Not only are they the leading causes of death, but they also arise from the same fundamental issue: mitochondrial dysfunction! Your body relies on little structures called mitochondria to produce energy. These organelles are actually bacteria (an alpha-proteobacterium) you co-evolved with, and which are also responsible for making fats, steroids and the building blocks of proteins-amino acids. The health of your cells and body depends on the capacity of your mitochondria to translate energy needs, via electrons, to the appropriate locations. The mitochondria dictate how well the cell functions and whether or not it should be replaced. If your mitochondria are functioning poorly, then your cells, and thus, your tissues function poorly. This leads to purposeless cell growth, also known as cancer. It can also lead to blood vessel damage, poor heart muscle contractions, and ultimately, heart disease.

What can we say! Humans are structured microbiomes! Did you know that you are only 10% Human!?

WHERE COQ10 COMES IN:

Coenzyme Q10 (aka CoQ10/Ubiquinone/Ubiquinol) is one of the nutrients that supports mitochondrial energy production and acts as an antioxidant to protect your cells. Your body naturally produces it when functioning optimally, but it can be depleted under a variety of conditions such as stress, poor nutrition, and the use of certain medications (especially cholesterol medications such as statins). Lower and depleted levels of CoQ10 can result in low antioxidant capacity and decreased energy production, leading to fatigue as a primary symptom.

Want to support your body’s CoQ10 production? Give it a boost with these options!
